At Least One Fatality, Victims Still Missing After Accurate Energetic Systems Explosion

Posted on October 10, 2025 in

In the early morning on Friday, October 10th, a massive explosion leveled a building on the Accurate Energetic Systems campus. CBS News reports that the blast happened at approximately 7:45 a.m., creating a plume of smoke so large that it was actually captured by the WSMV 4 First Alert Weather radar. At present, the number of fatalities has not been confirmed, but at least one victim has reportedly lost their life and nineteen others remain missing in the aftermath of the explosion.

What We Know About the Accurate Energetic Systems Explosion

At present, the cause of the deadly explosion is not known. Investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and local law enforcement are at the scene working to uncover the cause of the blast. Accurate Energetic Systems, the company responsible for running the site, “manufactures and provides solutions for energetics products serving the defense, aerospace, demolition, and oil and gas industries.”

Reporting and photographs of the scene show that an entire building was leveled by the blast, with scattered debris and wrecked vehicles scattered around the blast site. Home doorbell cameras as far as twenty miles away captured both the sound and shaking caused by the immense blast. Four or five people sought medical treatment at a local hospital following the incident. Local residents reported hearing and feeling the explosion, immediately realizing that it different from the occasional controlled blast emanating from the facility.

Unfortunately, this was not the first explosion to occur at an Accurate Energetic Systems facility. In 2014, a facility in McEwen was affected by an explosion that killed one person and injured three others. Tennessee OSHA reportedly inspected the facility in April of 2019 and issued multiple citations for code violations.
