Six people were found deceased at Prospect Valley Dairy in Keenesburg on Thursday, August 21st, 2025. At approximately 6:00 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to the dairy farm to rescue a number of individuals believed to be trapped in an enclosed space. Unfortunately, first responders were unable to save any of the victims. The victims, all of whom were men, were believed to have been killed by exposure to some gas while awaiting rescue in an enclosed space.

The Southeast Weld Fire Protection District released the following statement on the incident: “Crews responded and took appropriate precautions to enter the confined space to perform rescue operations. Unfortunately, District personnel recovered six deceased individuals from the space. The District extends its sincere condolences to the families of the victims.”

What Caused the Fatal Accident?

At this time, there is no definitive cause of death for the six victims. Jolene Weiner, Weld County’s chief deputy coroner, notes that “we are investigating these deaths as the possible consequence of gas exposure in a confined space.” Investigators have found no signs of foul play and are treating the fatal incident as an accident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the situation further to determine the cause of the victims’ deaths.

The Dairy Farmers of America offered the following statement following the tragic accident: “We are deeply saddened by this incident, and our thoughts and most sincere condolences go out to the friends and families of the deceased. At this early stage, we have no further details.”
