On Thursday, October 2, 2025, authorities are investigating a boiler room explosion that resulted in a fire around 1319 Texas Street near Daikin Park. The explosion and resulting structural fire are reported to have injured six construction workers who were inside the building at the time. As of now, nobody is suspected of having been injured by falling debris, although a neighboring Holiday Inn Express hotel suffered some exterior damage.

Currently, authorities have closed Texas Avenue, Caroline Street, San Jacinto Street, and Austin Street. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is directing southbound drivers to use Fannin Street and La Branch Street as alternate routes.
